WHERE ARE THE CENOTES?
Under the Jungle, Where Are Cenotes, Cenote Location, Mexico Cenotes Location, Cavern Diving Mexico Location

Cenotes are found throughout the Yucatan Peninsula, and even on the island of Cozumel. Most of the cenotes open to divers are located in the Riviera Maya (a region which stretches from Cancun to just south of Tulum).

WHERE CAN I DIVE IN CAVERNS?

Popular cavern diving sites being with Chac Mool Cenote, near Puerto Aventuras, and stretch south a bit past Tulum. There are a few advanced sites in the “Ruta de los Cenotes” outside of Puerto Morelos, but these are sinkholes, as opposed to caverns. Under the Jungle™ also has access to some private and out of the way sites, both in the Riviera Maya and in the Yucatan (see sinkhole diving). Under the Jungle™ is located at the entrance to the popular and beautiful Cenote Tajma Ha.

WHERE SHOULD I STAY FOR CENOTE DIVING?

People who have not been to the region before tend to underestimate the size of the Riviera Maya and the cost of transportation. Cancun and Puerto Morelos are both quite far from the main cenote diving areas. Good cities to consider are Playa del Carmen, Puerto Aventuras, Akumal, and Tulum. Under the Jungle™ does have a small lodge for divers on top of the shop.

CAN I VISIT THE CENOTES FROM COZUMEL?

Yes, the ferry trip from Cozumel Island to Playa del Carmen on the mainland is only 30-45 minutes. From there, it is easy to grab a cab down to Under the Jungle™.
