In certain caves, a side mount configuration is an advantage as it allows divers to pass through low bedding planes and small decorated passageways while minimizing their impact on the environment. Here, Natalie Gibb creeps through a tight area of Chan Hol. In this rarely-dived passageway, you can see that even exhaled bubbles knock small pieces of rock and dust off the ceiling. This sort of dive is open to Full Cave Certified divers and above, but it’s best to get some dives under your belt before attempting a very tight or delicate passage.
